You don’t have to just live with it

Women’s bodies go through a huge amount: puberty, fertility treatment, pregnancy, birth, the postnatal period, abdominal surgery and the menopause. All of these can take their toll emotionally, mentally and physically. If you’re experiencing symptoms from any of them, you don’t need to just live with them.

Your women’s health assessment

Specialist physiotherapy can help with many pelvic floor issues. Our women’s health physio will guide you through your assessment expertly and sensitively. It includes:

  • A discussion of your symptoms and how they’re affecting you
  • A movement assessment
  • An internal pelvic floor assessment (if indicated)
  • Abdominal or transperineal ultrasound (if indicated)
  • A discussion of the assessment findings
  • Treatment options and a plan for moving forward

The assessment is suitable for women of any age who want help and support with a women’s health condition.

Conditions we treat

  • Pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Bladder and bowel dysfunction
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Painful intercourse
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Endometriosis

  • Pregnancy-related low back pain
  • Diastasis rectus abdominis (tummy muscle separation)

Internal examinations

Your comfort and consent come first

Internal pelvic floor assessments are carried out by a female chartered physiotherapist, and our treatment room is a safe and secure environment. Assessments are only ever carried out with your consent, and you can change your mind at any time. You’re welcome to bring a chaperone with you.

If you’d rather not have an internal examination, that’s not a problem. It’s only one part of the assessment.
